Marie Roche and her daughter Dee visited Churchtown earlier this month to celebrate Marie's birthday. Marie who was raised on George's Street and went to school in Churchtown and Buttevant left Churchtown in the mid 1950s and settled in Newport in South Wales where she still lives. Remembered as one of the cleverest girls in the parish it was a pleasure to see Marie and her daughter Dee return to their roots. Our picture shows Marie and friends taken at the new school c. 1947.
