New Storm Water Infrastructure.

A new subterranean storm and rain water system was installed in Churchtown village over a two week period starting 16th June 2003. This work was carried out privately by LBJ Ltd and Bruhenny Holdings Ltd under agreement with Cork County Council to support the requirements of the Radharc na Sleibhte and Woodview developments in the village. The storm drains run into a stream at the rear of Tan Simcox's haybarn off Chapel Lane and run up the village to the Horse sculpture. The drain then runs up Kerry Lane. This storm water system will be taken over by Cork County Council in time and made generally available.

In September 2003 a further drain will be excavated on George's Street to serve Woodview. Churchtown Village will then become one of a few villages to have independent storm water and foul sewage systems.Here are a selection of pictures showing the excavation work in progress ...
