The pub licence we purchased (above middle) to open our bar in Boss Murphy's came from Stephen Walsh in Westport who tells us that his father was born in the late 1800's and he served in the US Air Force as a Pilot during the first World War. He returned to Westport and purchased the bar in 1924. The business consisted a traditional grocery shop and adjoining bar - the bar closed at 6 p.m. every evening, but it remained open on Saturday nights to accommodate relatives only! The bar premises is now being operated as a betting shop.

The Village Inn was opened by Willie Joe Condon and Kitty Fitzgerald, two of Churchtown's esteemed senior ciizens (third picture on right above).

The Village Inn is dedicated to Bill Murphy (1916-1984) who would have been
so pleased and proud to drink a pint in Boss Murphy's with friends like
Ned Fitz, Bill Callaghan and so many others.
