MEMORIES OF CHURCHTOWN

Email from Breda Butler on 5th August 2005.

I'd like to say well done. You have made Churchtown a beautiful village compare to 40 years ago. I remember playing in the footpaths outside my grandmother's small gate and running down the street to Flannery's corner. I used to call Flannery's "the black doors" because of the door colour.

My grand mother was Mary Tracey and she reared 12 children in a small house just next door to the new community Centre. There is a two storey story house there now. The Egan family were next door.

I was looking at the photos of 1920 class (click here for a link to the school section). I think it was Jim Tracey and not T Tracey.

It would be nice if you put more old photos on the web and names of families that lived in the village as the village would not be there only for them. They were the people that worked hard for nothing and they are the people that should be remembered.
