you are interested in fishing then Churchtown is just the
place to stay as it is close to some of the best salmon
fishing in Ireland on the famous Blackwater River. On the
Blackwater the salmon fishing season is from 1 February
to the end of September; the trout season is from 15 February
to the end of September. Coarse fishing for dace, roach,
pike is also available in the Churchtown area.
The Awbeg River, a tributary
which runs into the Blackwater midway between Mallow and
Fermoy is also very good trout stream, especially for
dry fly.
